Volunteers of the Sathya Sai Organization of  Slovenia have one constant humanitarian activity of distributing food to homeless people throughout the year. But there are also some special activities when volunteers take a bigger challenge and visit a person or a family in need and provide for them in different ways. One such humanitarian action took place recently in Bela Krajina, the region of Slovenia. Volunteers from two Sai Centers visited elderly couple, husband and wife both over 80 years of age. Beside their financial vulnerability, this couple had difficulties walking and moving around the house due to their age and health problems. It became difficult for them to maintain all the necessities of their house.

The challenge for the volunteers was to repair and renovate the kitchen and the bathroom in the house as these were in a bad shape and below sanitary standard. It required at least 2 days of work to get everything done, but nine Sai volunteers managed to finish the job in one single day. It was a surprise for everybody. They were all aware it was a genuine miracle.

Small, moldy kitchen space was turned into a functional, freshly painted, bright and clean area ready to be used by the house residents. Volunteers fixed doors and windows and also brought with them some new kitchen untensiles.

A small bathroom was in even worse condition, with dark and dusty wall corners. But in a matter of hours all of that changed and dusty place started to shine. It was certainly the devotion and loving intention of the volunteers that made the work so efficient. They were working in harmony, without much talking, just being aware of God in their good work. The elderly couple of the house were full of gratitude towards volunteers.

Later on some of the neighbours came to see what was going on all day. They were fascinated to find out that volunteers did everything for free, without any other demand except happiness of the elderly couple who lived in the house. So they wanted to join in and give help themselves. After the work was done, one of the neighbours was so moved by this service that he asked Sai volunteers to call him next time they decide upon this kind of service; he would be happy to serve with them. It was a beautiful day full of heart.
